Life Cycle Engineering Aided by Information and Intelligence Integration

Life cycle engineering is a keen and the latest interest associated with the global environmental problem. Its aim is to establish an environmentally conscious production system through considering a total life cycle of products and/or plants. It will refer to a comprehensive systems engineering paying special concerns on the down stream of the life cycle. To deal with the complexity from globalization and recycling structure, information integrated and intelligence supported approaches are essential so that we can improve the evaluation process, and provide a decision-aid for environmental management including various economic activities. As closely related topics, we can name several recent studies such as life cycle assessment, design for environment, reverse engineering, full cost accounting, and so on.
